Living Earth Youth Dialogue

Envisioning the Future of Education in a Traditional Village

Friday, June 21, 2024 from 6:00–7:30 pm PDT

Sharing From the Heart is a monthly initiative where young people from China and the United States come together around the pressing ecological, cultural, and spiritual issues of our time. Through sharing thoughts, personal stories, and actions in local settings, Chinese and American youth will begin building cross-cultural bonds to support a vision of a new, ecological civilization.

Join us on a dialogue and virtual-walk through an 800-year-old traditional village in China!

Explore the future of eco-civilization education in a unique live-cast tour of Peitian Village, an 800-year-old community in China’s Fujian Province. Amidst today’s ecological challenges and AI advancements, connecting Western culture with Eastern traditions offers a path to renewed harmony.

Peitian Village stands as a beacon of sustainable education, integrating classrooms within the living community. Historically, it hosted over 16 diverse educational projects, from private and women’s schools to agricultural and building schools, tailoring learning to individual talents. The village also established welfare centers, such as orphanages and charity rice barns, embodying the Read & Farm culture of rural China.

Discover how Peitian continues to inspire educators worldwide. Join us to learn how traditional living communities can shape the future of eco-civ education. Hear firsthand from educators who call Peitian home.
