Understanding China Meeting Thursday, March 2nd, 1:00pm PST and Sharing from the Heart Youth Dialogues Friday March 3rd, 5-6:30pm PST
Dear Colleagues,
We are deeply grateful to Rep. Judy Chu for sharing her wisdom with about 30 participants of our monthly meeting last Thursday. The recording will be available on the Living Earth You Channel in the next couple of days.
Our regular meetings to discuss papers resume this week as we discuss a paper on Hong Kong together with Bob Detrano’s letter explaining how he improved it and that he can’t be with us. Discussing that paper will be a main project. I hope it will move us toward consensus.
At our last meeting we discussed the paper on Taiwan. If we have any one who is with us primarily to discuss that, we will of course give that priority. We expect a good deal more input before agreement on that one.
I am also asking Charles to send copies of the brief summary of the paper by Roy Morrison. It is not a regular part of this collection, but it shows dramatically how cooperation between the United States and China could achieve remarkable results otherwise unattainable. My goal is after three more sessions to have five or six papers ready to go public; and we plan to make that paper No. 1.
I want all of the present participants to feel comfortable with all the papers we make public; so I’m asking that if you have not already approved of this, you check and make sure that you can. Almost all of us have copies of Zhihe’s paper on the One-Child experiment. I think it is practically ready to go public, but if you have missed it, please let Charles know.
We have no deadlines. But I do want to work toward completion of what has already been largely agreed upon.
Please arrange to be with us. We need to move forward.
John

Dear friends,
My sincere apologies for such a late timeline for getting things together for our Friday, March 3rd Youth Dialogue. Between the Center for Process Studies conference and not having luck getting in touch with the original speaker I hoped to invite, I am getting things together much later than I would have liked. But, everything is now good to go, nonetheless!
I’m filling in the speaker slot this month, which is sure to be a lot of fun. I’ll be discussing some issues with trying to develop ecological philosophies from both traditional Eastern and Western religious standpoints, and how these traditions can be brought together under a process outlook to help overcome some of their shortcomings. I’ll try to keep it less academic so it’ll be accessible to a more general audience, while trying to preserve some of the depth of the discussion and open up conversation on how we can best collaborate from our various standpoints, using the intellectual and spiritual resources of our cultures.
Here’s the event page on the Living Earth Movement website where you can send friends to RSVP: https://livingearthmovement.eco/event/living-earth-youth-dialogue-ecophilosophies-east-and-west-jared-morningstar/
As our event has developed these past few months, we’ve realized that we ought to dedicate more time to open dialogue, so we’ve modified the formal time of the event to be 1.5 hours rather than just an hour. This also gives more time to the featured speaker without worrying about cutting into the open conversation.
Anyways, I look forward to seeing many of you this Friday! Do let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.
Be well!
Jared Morningstar
SAVE THE DATE! March 23rd Living Earth monthly meeting 1:00pm PST featuring John Perkins with a follow up from Roy Morrison on his proposal for U.S. China cooperation on a solar grid
The Living Earth Movement inspires global cooperation for the sake of all life on our planet, beginning with the United States and China. We also seek to promote a new human civilization that lives in harmony with the rest of the ecosphere.
We are continuing to develop and share programs to help encourage cooperation between the U.S. and China and Ecological Civilization. For example, this is the first week in our 11-month history when we are providing three timely and relevant events featured in this newsletter. Please contact us if you have any interest in helping create and or participate in our events. Thank you for your participation and support!
