Our tiny organization named itself the Living Earth Movement. We were fully aware that we could not be such a “movement”. But we thought we could aim at joining forces with many organizations and individuals that cared about a living Earth. One absolute requirement for a living Earth is a peaceful Earth, and we have wholeheartedly committed ourselves to join many others in working against war.
But we believe that real peace is not simply the absence of war between nations, important as that is. It is also a world in which humanity ceases to treat the rest of the world simply We hope as something to be exploited. We want to live in harmony with other species in what some of us like to call an ecological civilization. We hope that we can widen and deepen the meaning of peace so that most of its advocates will join us in seeking other dimensions of peace.
We are a part of a family of organizations inspired by the radically Postmodern thinking of Alfred North Whitehead. He has shown us that our interconnectedness is more fundamental to our very existence than the modern world has acknowledged. This is part of the move from a clockwork universe to an organic one. We sense that more and more people are ready to listen to alternatives to modern reductionism.
We appreciate the opportunity we have this week to address a much larger audience than we are usually able to reach. It is my hope that all of the organizations that have been pushing for these changes will appreciate the opportunities to become better known. I hope we will support each other so as to illustrate our strong conviction that cooperation needs to replace competition as fundamental in human relationships. Please give this opportunity some priority this week.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, this special issue of the Living Earth Movement newsletter focused on the 99 Days of Peace Through Unity is perhaps worth a million words. We say that because some of the organizations founded, cofounded, and or inspired by John Cobb are now connecting with the worlds of World Unity Week, the Holomovement, and Peace on Earth by 2030.
The 99 Days just began June 17th with the 4th international World Unity Week. John Cobb and representatives of several affiliated organizations are among the presenters that could reach a potential combined audience of 3.4 million people world-wide. Living Earth is one of 34 Peace on Earth 2030 Partners , we are a member of the EARTHwise Partnership Alliance for a Planetary Civilization, and our inspired action project to publish and produce multimedia content including How-To-Guidebooks based on the work of John B. Cobb is 1 of the first 17 Holon Projects accepted by the Holomovement.

Earth Crisis Support Groups! Bonnie Tarwater and John Cobb Introduce Resources for Small Groups to Prepare for Crises and Experience Visionary Ways of Living and Loving One Another
Rev. Bonnie Tarwater and John B. Cobb will introduce Earth Crisis Support Groups that we hope will spread around the world. The aim is to create small communities of radical love for individuals to share the truth about the worst existential threat currently to the human family and our common home, Mother Earth. They will review how these groups came into being and share the guidelines so you will learn how to join, begin and run a support group.

Living Earth Youth Dialogues Sharing from the Heart
Living Earth Youth Dialogues Sharing from the Heart is a monthly initiative where young people from China and the United States come together around the pressing ecological, cultural, and spiritual issues of our time. Through sharing thoughts, personal stories, and actions in local settings, Chinese and American youth will begin building cross-cultural bonds to support a vision of a new, ecological civilization. They talk about food, poetry, gardening, solutions for the climate crisis, or life itself. Along the way, they will converse with John B. Cobb, Jr., age 97, a pioneer in seed planting for an Ecological Civilization.
For World Unity Week, the coordinators of the program—Jared Morningstar (American) and Vivian Song (Chinese)—will present on the vision behind the initiative and share the numerous successful cross-cultural dialogues the program has facilitated thus far. Jared and Vivian will showcase a number of the Chinese and American presenters who have come to share their work and ideas in the dialogues.

Ignacio Castuera and Dr. John B. Cobb, Jr. reflect on the relevance to world peace of John F. Kennedy’s 1963 speech that led to a nuclear arms agreement with the Soviet Union. Sixty years ago President Kennedy called for a serious undertaking of Peace Making. President Kennedy’s emphasis on empathy will be explored seeking ways to apply it to our current situation with both Russia and China. They will look at his suggestions and will discuss ways of making his summons relevant to our time.
