International Cooperation, Peace and Climate Solutions

This weekend during our Living Earth Youth Dialogue Sharing from the Heart, we will do a virtual visit to an 800-year-old traditional village in China, once home to 16 educational institutes.

Friends of the Living Earth Youth Dialogue,

For friends who haven't registered for the newsletter, I'd like to send a personal invitation to our upcoming Dialogue this coming Friday at 6 pm (PST time) with the event info. below.

Following the Claremont Eco-Forum in May, many of us felt a strong desire to continue the dialogue and explore new ways to work together, particularly in youth education and building an eco-educator network for ecological civilization.

This weekend, we will do a virtual visit to an 800-year-old traditional village in China, once home to 16 educational institutes. With Mingyang as our local guide, we will hear stories of the village's history, the current status facing mass tourism, and dream together a renewed vision for the village through ecological civilization education.

Check out a video made by Mingyang on Youtube

We hope to see you there!

World Unity Week is Conducing Seven Cocreation Circles and Inviting Participants to Answer 7  Questions.  We are sharing answers to the questions from the perspective of Process Philosophy and the Living Earth movement (as answered by Open AI with prompts by Jay McDaniel) and inviting you to share your feedback.

Hello friends, I am excited about the seven questions being asked of all of us during World Unity Week. They are just the questions we need to be considering. Along with John Cobb, I believe that the Process Movement and the Living Earth Movement offer a unique and inclusive framework for responding to these questions.

Working with OpenAI, I developed the response below including 10 Practices. I know there's more to be said, and I hope you might add your own thoughts, including any critiques of what I've shared. Every voice is important, yours much included.  In peace and creativity,

1. What pressing global challenge are you most passionate about addressing, and how do you envision contributing to its resolution through collaborative efforts?

From the perspective of process philosophy and the Living Earth movement, one of the most pressing global challenges is climate change and environmental degradation. The resolution lies in fostering a collaborative, holistic approach that integrates diverse voices and disciplines. This can be achieved by creating communities of practice where scientists, indigenous leaders, policymakers, artists, and activists work together. I envision contributing by facilitating dialogues and initiatives that promote ecological consciousness, sustainable practices, and regenerative agriculture, guided by the understanding that all life is interconnected and that our actions should enhance the well being of the entire biosphere.

2. In what ways do you believe diversity and empathy can strengthen our collective ability to address complex issues and foster global unity?

Diversity and empathy are crucial in addressing complex issues as they allow for a richer pool of ideas, perspectives, and solutions.Process philosophy emphasizes the interconnectedness of all entities, suggesting that embracing this diversity leads to a more dynamic and adaptive response to global challenges. Empathy fosters understanding and cooperation, bridging gaps between different communities and cultures. By cultivating empathy and valuing diverse experiences, we can build a more cohesive and resilient global community capable of tackling multifaceted issues with creativity and compassion.

3. How do you see technology playing a role in promoting human flourishing and sustainability, while also ensuring ethical considerations are prioritized?

Technology has the potential to significantly enhance human flourishing and sustainability when guided by ethical principles. Process philosophy advocates for technologies that align with the values of interconnectedness and ecological balance. Technologies such as renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and circular economies can drive positive change. Ensuring ethical considerations involves engaging diverse stakeholders in the design and implementation of technologies, promoting transparency, and prioritizing the wellbeing of both people and the planet. Collaborative platforms and digital tools can also facilitate global cooperation and knowledge sharing, fostering a collective effort towards sustainability.

4. What innovative practices or initiatives have you encountered that demonstrate effective environmental resilience and sustainability?

One notable initiative is the regenerative agriculture movement, which focuses on farming practices that restore soil health, increase biodiversity, and sequester carbon. This approach aligns with the principles of process philosophy by recognizing the interdependence of all living systems.Another example is the Living Building Challenge, which aims to create buildings that are self-sufficient, regenerative, and have a positive impact on their surroundings. These practices demonstrate that integrating ecological principles into human activities can lead to sustainable and resilient outcomes.

5. How can we better empower marginalized communities and promote social justice to create more inclusive and equitable futures for all?

Empowering marginalized communities requires a multi-faceted approach that addresses systemic inequalities and amplifies their voices. Process philosophy highlights the importance of relationality and mutual respect. Initiatives such as community-led development projects, participatory decision-making processes, and equitable access to resources and opportunities are essential. Education and capacity-building programs can also empower individuals by providing them with the skills and knowledge to advocate fort heir rights and drive change. By fostering solidarity and collaborative efforts, we can create a more inclusive and equitable future.

6. What transformative approaches or strategies do you believe are necessary to unlock the full potential of education and ensure it is accessible to everyone, regardless of background or location.

Transformative education should be holistic, inclusive, and accessible. Process philosophy supports the idea that education should cultivate a sense of interconnectedness and responsibility towards the world.Strategies include leveraging technology to provide online and remote learning opportunities, developing culturally relevant curricula, and promoting experiential learning that connects students with their communities and the natural world. Collaborative partnerships between governments, NGOs, and educational institutions can also help bridge gaps in access and resources, ensuring that education reaches all individuals regardless of their background or location.

7. How can we unify the insights from the six co-creation circles with universal natural patterns to drive a global movement of movements?

The six co-creation circles represent different aspects of social and ecological transformation. Unifying their insights with universal natural patterns involves recognizing the interconnectedness and interdependence of all life. Process philosophy encourages us to see the world as a web of relationships where each part influences the whole.y aligning our actions with natural rhythms and patterns—such as cycles of growth, renewal, and cooperation—we can create synergies between various movements. This requires fostering a culture of collaboration, open communication, and shared vision, allowing diverse initiatives to support and amplify each other, thus driving a cohesive global movement.

WORLD UNITY WEEK 2024 – Dancing the Dream

Join the Movement Step into the rhythm of change and co-creation. World UNITY Week is your platform to inspire, engage, and act. Together, let’s dance the dream of Peace, Unity, and a thriving world for all of Life.

The purpose of our EARTHIST  Holon Project is to develop programs and publications that help inspire, enable, and empower individuals, organizations, and communities to practice Earth StewardHeirShip.

That will help us be better able to honor, protect, and help regenerate Earth, our shared common home. We are inspired by the relevance of John Cobb's teachings and the Living Earth Movement, their potential to effect a shift in planetary consciousness, and how they could help support the aims of the Holomovement. As part of our project we publish a  Mindful Earthism each day to encourage celebrating Earth Day every day. Details at Earthism.Space.

StewardHeirShip encompasses alignment with Spirit, Service, Stewardship, and Conscious Sustainable Living. Our action project is to publish and produce multimedia content including How-To-Guidebooks based on the work of John B. Cobb, Jr.  Love, especially unconditional love, is central to our vision and mission. We incorporate resources from The Love Foundation and The Love Center in our programs and publications whenever appropriate.

In case you are not aware of Dr. Cobb’s significant and substantial contributions, they are shared in a 9 minute video celebrating his recent 99th birthday at  https://bit.ly/JohnCobb99YearsOfLegacyWorksIn9Minutes
